I thought it would be perhaps good to create and maintain our own mailing list as we are frequently discussing things only among ourselves without involving the whole fedora design team and this is not exactly open process, on the other hand I don't think we should involve the whole team in these discussions. Plus, I'd like to have a place for potencial new artists to contact us -- currently they mostly use one of our mail addresses or the design-list which is Fedora specific.
Also it would be good to have an irc channel for real-time discussions. Any opinions about this? Does anyone know how to set-up either of these properly?
IMO, an irc channel is NOT needed, Echo talk on either existing fedora-design or fedora-art is on topic.
However, if you really want that, you can create yourself the channel (#echo-icon ?) and take the ownership issue with the freenode admins, you would need support from fedora (spot) only if the channel name contain the word "fedora".
However, +1 from me for the mailing list.
Uh, for a mailing list hosted on fp.o, you have to fill a ticket with the infrastructure team: http://fedorahosted.org/fedora-infrastructure/, this is how we got the list for my local (Romanian) community.
+1 for mailing list as well. IRC would be difficult for me as I don't have access to my laptop all time due to timezone difference (I live in Vancouver, Canada which is roughly 10 hours differences).
I've filed a request for 'echo-icons' mailing list: https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-infrastructure/ticket/1594
And I've forgot to close this bug. We agreed that we don't need an IRC channel and mailing list is up and working: https://fedorahosted.org/mailman/listinfo/echo-icon-theme
