#1700 Lulzbot 3d printer firmware
Closed: Fixed Opened by spot.

We've got a package in fedora called lulzbot-marlin-firmware: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/package/rpms/lulzbot-marlin-firmware/

This package builds the firmware images that the Lulzbot family of 3d printers use. The printers are open source hardware and the firmware code is all GPL. However, something weird is happening where when we built the firmware images using the Fedora arduino cross-compiler, it does not function properly on the printers. Upstream uses Debian, and isn't sure why our builds do not work.

I would like to ask for a temporary exception to ship the upstream pre-built firmware images (along with the GPL source code in the SRPM that matches them), until someone can figure out why the built-from-source images do not work properly.

I'm fine with this exception.

+1 to granting an exception while this is sorted out.

+1 here as well. Though I am curious to find out why it is failing for us.

+1 here

agreed packaging lulzbot prebuilt firmware along with source is acceptable through the F26 timeframe. If it cannot be built in Fedora by F27 branch time, an extension must be requested (+5,0,-0)
