I was asked to add to /etc/os-release a SUPPORT_URL field it was submitted with https://ask.fedoraproject.org as the url, I suggested that https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/users@lists.fedoraproject.org/ may be better, but to my knowledge we do not really have an official support url. before anything is committed, I would like FESCo to decide what is the official support url.

I'd be against using ask.fedoraproject.org as the official support URL. That doesn't map to reality by any means.

Fedora has no official support in general, so I'm not sure where the best place to map the URL to is. The users list is likely the best candidate though.

Perhaps https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicating_and_getting_help would be a better link?

Edit: or the shortened version http://bit.ly/FedoraHelp

+1 for the https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicating_and_getting_help. There isn't one appropriate medium for all cases, and this page gives a pretty good overview of available options.

-0 for the shortened version. With the full link, there is additional information in the URL: it's a wiki, hosted by the fedora project, and contains information about "communicating" and "getting help". The replacement hides all that and uses http to boot.

AGREED: FESCo has agreed that https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicating_and_getting_help is the official support url (+1:6, -1:0, +0:0) (maxamillion, 16:31:42)
