Forwarding to FESCo from BZ #1926331

Based on the discussion in the BZ, I think this may violate our restriction on:

Must not alter other services
Installation of the package providing the unit auto-started by this preset MUST NOT change the behavior of any other service running (or potentially running) on the system.

As a result, this has to be decided by a FESCo vote.

Maybe this is my ignorance showing, but how is this different from cloud-init, ignition, the qemu agent, and the virtualbox agent?

Sorry, I was unclear in the initial post; I meant that because of the behavior it cannot be auto-approved in the BZ. It's completely within FESCo's purview to declare it acceptable.

Regarding the violation, which service modifications were you thinking of?

For the record, I'm +1 to enabling this. It just needs FESCo approval because it changes the system based on outside influences. I think it's basically the same as any other VM agent.

This was approved during today's FESCo meeting (+7, 0, 0)
