#104 [Talk] ZFS on Linux from the user perspective
Closed Opened by mskarbek.

  1. What’s your proposal? Be specific about what you want to accomplish, how this helps the project and the attendees. Review [link to CFP] for details on what we’re looking for.
I would like to introduce ZFS on Linux project from the user perspective based on my personal experiences (~3 years) in both server and desktop environments. The talk will briefly introduce ZFS, my motivations for choosing it as my main file system and compare it with btrfs and Startis project. The main part of the talk will focus on sowing my attempts (successful and not) of using ZFS in different scenarios - virtualization, containers, cloud, desktop with pointing out what's great, what needs special attention and where the pain points are.
In conclusion, I would like to focus on the future of ZFS on Linux and my ideas of what Linux community can do to help ZFS with a broader adoption without worrying about license violation (CDDL and GPLv2 incompatibility controversy).
