#388 [Workshop-110] Securing services using systemd
Closed: Talk Scheduled by isagordillo. Opened by kushal.

This will be a live workshop about securing Internet facing services using Systemd. Over the years systemd added many
features which helps any service to isolate and secure itself. In this workshop we will start with a very vulnerable
web service and then we will learn how can we use only the features provided by the systemd to secure it.

Attendees can use a Fedora 36 VM during the session to follow along.

Thank you for your submission!

At this time, your proposed session is under consideration for this year's Nest with Fedora event. The CfP review team have the following comments/suggestions to help improve your proposal, or make it more suitable for the audience we expect at Nest this year.

  • Sounds user oriented, so it may fit better at a release party
  • Could the workshop be more oriented towards Fedora contributors?

Please provide feedback based on these comments. We want to give everyone who submitted a proposal the opportunity to present at Nest if the content fits and there is still room in the schedule. Feel free to respond on this ticket.

If you have further questions or need assistance feel free to email mnordin (at) redhat (dot) com. Thanks again for your proposal!

We invite you to register for Nest with Fedora on Hopin at the following link.

Is the target audience for this talk users or contributors?

Both, we have default services in Fedora, and also users deploy their own services in certain cases. This workshop is supposed to give folks a headstart.
Now, the contributors of Fedora can use these features update (or submit respective patches) to various systemd services we have and make them even more secure.

Upon further review, we are accepting this session for Nest with Fedora 2022!

Thank you for your response to the feedback we provided.

Please review the following guidance on using Hopin as a speaker and leave a comment if you have any questions.

On the day of your presentation, login to the event through the link above and go to the "Sessions" tab on the left hand side of the page. Your session will be visible under the "Sessions" tab for 10 minutes before and after the scheduled time. Click on your session and you should have full rights to moderate and present. Click on the "Share Audio & Video" button. Once you see yourself on screen, you're live to the audience.

You may want attendees to join you on screen to ask questions or interact. If so, you can see attendees asking to join at the bottom of the video in the Moderator Panel. You get to choose who comes up on screen with you there by clicking the "+" button on each request.

While unlikely, if you run into any technical difficulties during your session, please write in the Hopin chat what your issue is and message me through Hopins direct messaging feature. Another admin or myself should be able to resolve your issue within a few minutes. You can also take a look at Hopins Knowledge Center if you have questions about how the platform works or have any issues.
