#413 [Talk-50] Building a Standard Operating Environment with System Roles
Closed: Talk Not Scheduled by riecatnor. Opened by itguyeric.

CfP Submission for Nest with Fedora 2022 is now open

Please note if you think your session would be best live or pre-recorded.

Live (I love audience interaction)

= Questions/Requested Information =

What is your proposal?

Do you run a small lab or data center? Are you a developer that needs to work in a consistent environment? Then chances are you have worked up bash scripts, custom Ansible playbooks, or maybe even a text file with all the commands you run for each system.

Those days are now behind us. In this session, we'll discuss the creation of System Roles, a set of Ansible playbooks that can configure systems, deploy workloads, and bring your infrastructure in line as a Standard Operating Environment (SOE).

Join Eric the IT Guy for a look at system roles and even a live demo showing you how to get started.

Who in addition to the speaker needs to be in the virtual room for this to succeed?

Systems Administrators, DIYers, students, Developers
(Maybe someone to help wrangle questions for a Q&A session?)

Is this a…

50 minute Talk

Anything else we need to know?

I am an avid open source supporter, a podcaster, and a Red Hatter. I work for the RHEL marketing team.

Who are you?

Thank you for your submission!

At this time, your proposed session is under consideration for this year's Nest with Fedora event. The CfP review team have the following comments/suggestions to help improve your proposal, or make it more suitable for the audience we expect at Nest this year.

  • Would like to see a contributor focus (plan for Fedora Server, say) rather than the user focus. User focus may be a better fit for a Release Party
  • Could this session be adjusted to fit the Fedora contributor audience at Nest?

Please provide feedback based on these comments. We want to give everyone who submitted a proposal the opportunity to present at Nest if the content fits and there is still room in the schedule. Feel free to respond on this ticket.

If you have further questions or need assistance feel free to email mnordin (at) redhat (dot) com. Thanks again for your proposal!

We invite you to register for Nest with Fedora on Hopin at the following link.

I take your suggestion to mean =E2=80=9Chow to create a system role=E2=80=9D=
for users to then ingest.=20

If that=E2=80=99s accurate, my experience with the contributor side is very m=
inimal at this point. I am not sure I could do the necessary research and cr=
eate a compelling example prior to Nest/Flock.=20

Thank you for your consideration,=20

Hi @itguyeric thank you for your response, and understandable. We appreciate your contributions to Fedora, especially as a newbie! Unfortunately, your session has not been accepted for Nest with Fedora 2022 due to keeping our session load moderate to promote interaction and reduce virtual fatigue. Thanks again for your submission and we invite you to please submit again for future Fedora events. And we look forward to seeing you at Nest!
