As a way to cleanup our code and improve performance, we should investigate to see if git-archive is a suitable alternative to cloning down the entire repo when getting the modulemd file from dist-git.

It seems like we can't get the timestamp of the commit without cloning it down. So git-archive isn't a viable solution.
