#56 libuser test failed on Debian sid
Closed by vimerbf. Opened by vimerbf.

Hi,
Now the libuser package on Debian sid has a RC bug:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1022344

> .. contents:: :depth: 2

> SKIP tests/fs_test (exit status: 77)
> fakeroot version 1.29

> FAIL tests/utils_test (exit status: 2)

But I reproduced it and my local machines I got:

SKIP: tests/fs_test
===================
fakeroot not available, skipping test
SKIP tests/fs_test (exit status: 77)
fakeroot version 1.29
FAIL: tests/utils_test
======================
Group creation failed: name contains invalid char `/'
FAIL tests/utils_test (exit status: 2)

So I think the env of the libuser(I mean libuser's dependencies has issue).
But I am stuck in how to debug the libuser, could you have a look?
Or give more debug tips is ok.:)
thanks

Hi,

for the missing fakeroot - you may try another implementation. In Fedora fakeroot was deprecated but there is a package called pseudo that provides fakeroot binary as well. If I recall correctly, the tests worked well with it. So take a look for Debian equivalent.

Regarding the utils_test - the tests are not really user friendly, but at the end it is just a shell script. So you can run it with bash -x ./tests/utils_test and see what is it doing.

I did a brief check and there is no test that tries to create a group with a slash in the name.

Tom

Hi Tom,
thanks for your tip. Fortunately, the maintainer of libuser package on Debian has fixed the issue with the upstream bp patch:
https://tracker.debian.org/news/1387082/accepted-libuser-1063dfsg-5-source-into-unstable/
So I can close the issue :)
