Describe the issue The standard operation procedure Retire Orphaned Packages is out of date. The page says this is done only once per release, prior to branching. In reality, it is done continously (or almost so, weekly?) based on the six week grace period for orphaned packages. I am updating the Package Maintainer docs and I would like to refer to the Retire Orphaned Packages page for description of this process. That would work better, if the page was up to date. Would you have the time to check that page and update it to reflect the actual, current operating procedure?
When do you need this? Not urgent
When is this no longer needed or useful? n/a
If we cannot complete your request, what is the impact? Incorrect documentation for package maintainers, potentially leading them to do suboptimal decisions regarding orpaning and retirement.

It is almost continuously, but manually done by me, hence not exactly after 6 weeks.
The policy is described in https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Orphaned_package_that_need_new_maintainers#About_Orphan_and_Retired_.28Deprecated.29_Packages
The linked SOP is not following the policy and I don't think it has been followed for couple years now.
That is exactly the page that I am trying to clarify. I did not realize that the linked section is the policy. Probably because the following sections contain instruction for performing some actions. I will split the page into two: "Policy for Orphaned Packages" with only the policy and "Orphaned Packages Process" with only
Understood, I won't add a link there in that case.
From my side, there is no need to keep this issue open anymore.
