#12042 Two retired packages not automatically blocked in Koji for Rawhide / Fedora 40
Closed: Fixed with Explanation by kevin. Opened by dm0.

  • Describe the issue
I retired rust-versionize and rust-versionize_derive in both Fedora 40 and Rawhide early Saturday, after their last user was pushed to stable with an update that no longer uses them. They still aren't blocked in the "koji list-pkgs" output, and they still appear in the package repo on dl.fedoraproject.org updated today.

  • When do you need this? (YYYY/MM/DD)
2024/04/02 is when the Fedora 40 final freeze starts, and as I understand it, package retirements must be done before then. Sorry this is being filed so late, I retired the packages as soon as I could after the last package user was pushed to stable and waited for two days' compose reports for automatic blocking as it says on the retirement process page.

  • When is this no longer needed or useful? (YYYY/MM/DD)
2024/11/12 is when Fedora 39 is EOL, at which point I can orphan the packages and not care what happens to them.

  • If we cannot complete your request, what is the impact?
The last builds of these packages will live on in the final Fedora 40 release (and rawhide) with just a dead.package file in Git.

Yeah, we are tracking the general problem of retirements not working right in https://pagure.io/releng/issue/12028 :(

I'll block these manually...
