The apt package is currently apt-rpm, I would like to take ownership to retire it in f30 and rawhide to later introduce proper apt (review request submitted already).
fedora-package-config-apt should be retired too, for good, I'm planning to do that.
There is also a synaptic package recently orphaned along with the two above, I think it should be retired too even though it could in theory pick up the next (proper) apt package once available.
The sooner the better, ideally while it's still possible to retire things in f30.
Does not apply :)
According to apt-rpm upstream Panu Matilainen, the project has been dead for a decade, cannot be contained by SELinux by design, runs as root with network access, and has known vulnerabilities.
And also that blocks the "apt" package name and prevents me to introduce upstream apt and sbuild to Fedora.
I'd like to co-maintain apt, as I've been maintaining a spec for apt-dpkg for a few years now, which has been fleshed out with help from Debian upstream.
apt
A review will not be necessary if ownership of the apt package is transferred to new people who just update it anyway. I've got a spec file that will allow obsoleting from the old apt package to this one that's been fleshed out with Debian upstream.
Yes, I have seen that your spec is more comprehensive than mine. I'd be happy to share co-maintainship (especially since I asked for co-maintainers on the devel list) but I think we need a new review since we're switching upstreams for apt.
@dridi Now you own apt and fedora-package-config-apt packages.
I think review request is required - https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Package_Renaming_Process
