Looking at the file dates and the logs from my mirror it seems fullfiletimelist-epel is not updated after a playground-8 compose. fullfiletimelist-epel still references old repodata files:

Please update fullfiletimelist-epel also after playground-8 composes.

There is still something not working correctly here:

On mm-backend01 I see

-rw-r--r--. 1 263 ftpsync 19662424 Sep 21 00:07 epel/fullfiletimelist-epel

and

$ ls -la epel/playground/8/Everything/x86_64/os/repodata/repomd.xml
-rw-r--r--. 1 263 ftpsync    3910 Sep 21 05:20 repomd.xml

So repomd.xml is newer than fullfiletimelist-epel and quick-fedora-mirror then fails.

Yep. It was regenerating the wrong fullfiletimelists. ;(
