testcloud instance create --help claims support for CentOS:
testcloud instance create --help
Examples of some known distro:release pairs: - fedora:rawhide (latest compose), fedora:33, fedora:latest (latest Fedora GA image) - fedora:qa-matrix (image from https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Current_Cloud_Test ) - centos:XX (eg. centos:8, centos:latest) - centos-stream:XX (eg. centos-stream:8, centos-stream:latest) - ubuntu:release_name (eg. ubuntu:focal, ubuntu:latest) - debian:release_name/release_number (eg. debian:11, debian:sid, debian:latest)
But running
tmt run --until report provision --how virtual --image centos-stream:8
fails with
Could not map 'centos-stream:8' to compose.
Same with --image centos:8. Unfortunately I can't test this directly with testcloud due to issue #116, but I suppose it would fail in the same way, as tmt virtual just uses testcloud?
--image centos:8
testcloud
tmt virtual
From a brief testing, it seems the issue is on the tmt side, I can take a look at it.
Huh, this is a bit confusing, but it seems the syntax for tmt differs from testcloud:
distro:version is for testcloud distro-version is for tmt
so, this should work:
tmt run --until report provision --how virtual --image centos-stream-8
I think a better wording might help here in tmt's help, wdyt @psss ? I can make PR for that, don't know if it is somewhere with some examples.
Indeed, that works fine with tmt ... centos-stream-8. Thanks! I can't validate this with testcloud itself, but I guess this can be closed then?
tmt ... centos-stream-8

What about supporting both fedora-33 and fedora:33 formats? Could it break anything? If not, I guess that could be best from the user point of view. @lzachar, @fnecas, thoughts?
fedora-33
fedora:33
Testcloud now supports (from 0.6.3) both distro:version and distro-version.
I'll open tmt PR for this.
Solved by https://github.com/teemtee/tmt/pull/1914 and https://pagure.io/testcloud/pull-request/144 .
